Your number's been the same since the kids were small. We're not asking you to change it. Pick your own port date in the customer portal, get automated updates until cutover, the number transfers overnight on the day you chose. Here's exactly what happens.

Pick a tier, give us your existing number + current provider. No PAC chase, no Letter of Authority paperwork.

Pick your port date

Inside portal.giant.net.uk → Number porting, the calendar lets you choose the working day that suits — first available, end of your existing contract, after a planned holiday. You're in control.

03Until cutover

Automated updates

Status changes (submitted, accepted by old carrier, scheduled) push to the portal + email automatically. No chasing us for progress — you'll know before we would.

04Cutover night

Live on Giant

Number transfers overnight (2am–6am) on your chosen date. Old line goes silent, new digital line rings. Old provider's contract auto-cancels — we tell them.

We handle the One Touch Switch paperwork with your old provider — you don't speak to them. The cutover (when the actual line moves) takes under 30 seconds. Most people don't notice it happen.

999 · Ofcom-mandated

When the power's out,
the phone still rings.

The honest answer: a digital phone needs the broadband to be alive, and the broadband needs power. So we plan for the power-cut scenario explicitly — Ofcom mandates it (rule GC C5), and we go further than the minimum.

    Even if everything fails, your nearest mobile cell-site routes 999 calls free of charge under Ofcom's universal-emergency rule. We register your address with the operator the day the line goes live.
